Soft spot for VBACs

Today's birth announcement was written by our labor doula Emily.

Doula Emily with baby Finley

I've said it once and I'll say it again, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC)s are precious to my heart! It's one of the reasons why I became a doula.

After all it was a VBAC that started my journey as a doula when my oldest daughter sought out a vaginal birth after having two cesareans.

I consider it a privilege and honor to assist a family in having a vaginal birth after a cesarean. The sense of accomplishment and empowerment that a woman often experiences after a vaginal birth is magnificent and it's magnified especially after a VBAC!

Stephanie and Jeremy did a wonderful job advocating for themselves and planning ahead by hiring a midwife and a doula as well as taking childbirth classes through Mindful Birth Services. These preparations increased their odds to have a successful VBAC; providers matter! This couple did their homework and put in the hard work. Now, I'm ecstatic to share their excitement as they allowed me to introduce a handsome little fellow named Finley!

Stephanie and Jeremy decided to keep the gender of their second child a secret. I'm sure they were pleasantly surprised to discover they are the blessed parents of two beautiful boys! Their first son Linden welcomed his little brother Finley James Blake along with Mom and Dad who on October 16th 2019. He weighed 8 lb 15 oz.

Please join me as we celebrate the gift of life and congratulate this loving couple!

In doula love,

Emily
